For Oliver's Fourth Birthday

Every so often things aren't hard to discover;
And sometimes few words need to be spent.
Like when the waves the shoreline cover,
When, to the sea, the waves prove their strength.

Sailing on the ocean, Popeye the spinach eyed:
"Where are those islands of Jurassic Park?"
The wheels of Oli's bike on the beach just slide;
Off he goes looking for an adventure and a lark.

When it comes to swimming, Oli is having a ball;
Breastroke and crawl are his preferred styles to float.
Bouncing like he's on an inflatable castle in a mall,
Oli the Captain skillfully navigates his little sailing boat.

Oli, smile! That's what this day requires!
Secure your boat in the pleasant port;
And with lemonade and cookies, 
And whatever your heart desires,
Blow out four candles on the birthday torte.
