For Tobin's Fifth Birthday

                                     For Tobin's 5th Birthday

                        Dear Tobin, Sasha's nephew, and our precious grandchild,
                                 Greetings for the fifth birthday,
                                       We send your way.
                           A bird's song, the presents, a flowers's bouquet,
                           Flying over the regions of your imagination wild.

                              Remember, in Novi Sad Tobin did venture?
                                So much happened, a great adventure!
                            After an ice-cream, popcorn, and a lemonade,
                          Tobin was ready, on his horsy, for an escapade.

                             And in the Danube, what's that splashing?
                                Our Tobin's gone fishes a-catching,
                             Under the bridge, who's cars are buzzin'?
                            Tobin's and Oli's, the two nearest cousin'.

                            But the winter spell's luring children out,
                          Exit the winter slumber and onto the snow route.
                           So Tobin took off with his brother on a sledge,
                    Like Bodhi, down the snow-covered slopes and to the woods' edge.

                            Not far are the faithful companions of Tobin,
                            Nino maca and the dinosaurs, ready to roll in,
                            To follow our celebrant even further on a whim,
                    To the places near and far, where his imagination may take him.

                          Драги наш Тобине, сестрићу и мило нам унуче,
                                    Нек' ти је срећан
                                   Твој рођендан пети,
                             Птице пој, узлетели поклони, букети,
                              Пределима маште твоје, путниче.

                             Памтиш, у Новом Саду кад оно беше?
                                 Пуно тога Тобин доживеше!
                             Сладолед, кокице, крофне да му даду,
                              Па на коњићу спреман за ескападу.

                             А ко се то у Дунаву праћака и цичи?
                              Чији аутићи брундају испод моста?
                               Тобинови рибарски то су покличи,
                             Тобина и Олија, двају авантуриста.

                             Али већ нас и зимске чаролије маме,
                             Децу зову код куће залуд да не чаме,
                            Тако је и Тобин са братом на санке сео,
                           Завејаним падинама, за Бодијем загребао.

                             Ту су, негде, и Тобину верни друзи,
                                 Нино-маца и диносауруси,
                          Јер они слављеника нашег прате још и даље,
                        У просторе блиске и далеке, машта где га пошаље.
